After a rough night and another two episodes of halted breathing, Alexa finally made progress today. While she still has been spitting up, it doesn't quickly lead to choking and lack of oxygen, although Mom and Dad are still on edge!
We received news this morning that Alexa had failed the Newborn hearing screen. This was not unexpected as Samuel, our four year old, failed his first two tests at birth and now has hearing aids to correct his mild to moderate hearing loss. Hearing loss runs in our extended family, with Alexa's grandfather and three of his sisters had hearing loss from birth. We do know what to expect in this regard so we'll continue to monitor the situation over the next weeks and months. Right now our primary concern is that we keep Alexa breathing normally.
