Summer vacation is rolling by

We have had lots of stuff going on and thus the summer seems to be zipping past. It is nearly half over and we will be on the road West soon. We are all trying to enjoy it with out getting on each others nerves too much --which has been a bit challenging at times.

Alexa is doing well. Once we got the new ear molds and bent the ear hooks a bit, her hearing aids fit much better so she wears them more. We have another appointment this week and hopefully the "real" pediatric ear hooks are in. We met with a geneticist and found out the hearing loss is a recessive trait which means both parents are carriers --we can no longer point the finger just at Dad. She is rolling over and grabbing things already--she is growing up way too fast. She is good natured and very observant as we taxi the boys around to all the places they need to go.

Zac and Josh have had the most going on. Their adventures have seemed non-stop so far. They participated in a week long basketball camp where they got their exercise for the summer :) .

They also attended Cub Scout Day camp for a couple days and had lots of fun activities while building character.
Then just yesterday, they joined their Cub Scout Pack in the 4th of July parade in Waukee. They rode (not marched) and threw bubble gum to the spectators.

They all finished up a couple weeks of swimming lessons. Most mornings were quite chilly and one was full of thunderstorms and thus canceled, but everyone was a good sport, and we will go for another round next year.

Brian took all the boys to the Iowa Corn Indy 250 pre-race that his work sponsored at the Iowa Speedway. They went with some friends which made it even more fun.

The boys also got to go with a few friends to visit Boy Scout Camp one evening. Dad helped with the dutch oven cobblers. Dinner was brought in from Pizza Hut.

And let's not forget, the most favorite activity so far--weeding the garden. They did manage to work up a small sweat. (It was so unfair of Mom and Dad to make them work so hard.)

Zac also got his first paying job outside of the family--he must be growing up officially. (Our neighbor offered to pay him to mow his lawn while he is on vacation.)
Have to include Sam. He has been so excited since we signed him up for soccer this fall that he hangs around the house in his soccer shorts, shoes, and shin guards.

And Dad. . . he has been busy tinkering with his new car. It is a wolfsburg edition so it has lots of extra fancy stuff. (Not too shabby for a salvage!)
